Chinese EV maker BYD has finally launched the Sealion 7 electric SUV in India, with prices starting from Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in two variants: Premium and Performance.

Based on the brand’s e-Platform 3.0 EVO, the Sealion 7 features a sleek and aerodynamic design, sharing its design cues with the Seal sedan. Dimensionally, it is 4830mm in length, 1925mm in width and 1620mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2930mm and offers a cargo space of 500 litres, along with 58 litres of front storage space (frunk). Its kerb weight stands at 2225kg for the Premium and 2340kg for the Performance trim.
Inside, the Seal’s interior draws inspiration from the dynamic flow and speed of a sailboat racing. The dashboard looks plush with the gloss black panels and Nappa leather finish. Powering the Sealion 7 is an 82.5 kWh battery, offered in both RWD and AWD configurations. At the rear, it gets a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that produces 312PS of max power and 380Nm of peak torque, whereas, in the AWD version, the front wheels are powered by the Squirrel Cage Induction Asynchronous (SCIA) motor producing 217PS and 310Nm. Its combined output is rated at 530PS and 690Nm, enabling the EV to complete the century sprint in just 4.5 seconds.
