The BYD Sealion 7 is one of the main attractions among all the major cars showcased at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025. The brand has started accepting its orders and its deliveries will start on March 7. The BYD Sealion 7 is an performance SUV which comes in two variants: Premium and Performance.
BYD Sealion 7: Platform and Dimensions
It based on the brand’s e-Platform 3.0 EVO, which includes a 12-in-1 electric drive system, cell-to-body technology and an 800V electrical architecture.
As mentioned, this platform comprises 12 critical components from the drive system, control system and battery system into a single cohesive system, thus enhacing efficiency and performance, and reducing the overall weight and size of the powertrain for better space utilisation.
Against the measuring tape, the Sealion 7 stands 4830mm in length, 1925mm in width and 1620mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2930mm.
It offers a cargo space of 500 litres, along with a 58 litres of front storage space (frunk).
Its kerb weight is rated at 2225kg for the Premium and 2340kg for the Performance variant.
BYD Sealion 7: Powertrain
BYD offers the Sealion 7 in both RWD and AWD options.
The RWD version gets Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that makes 312PS of max power and 380Nm of peak torque.
On the other hand, the Squirrel Cage Induction Asynchronous (SCIA) motor placed on the front axle in the AWD variant produces 217PS and 310Nm. Its combined output stands at 530PS and 690Nm, enabling the EV to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds.
Both powertains draw their charge from a 82.56 kWh blade battery pack that offers a range of up to 567 km on a single charge.
The Sealion 7 features a striking ”OCEAN X” front design with a bold X-shaped structure with sharp edges to provide it an aggresive appearance. Other notable design highlights includes floating LED headlamps, tapered roofline, flush-fitting door handles, 19-inch alloys (20-inch in top variant) and red brake callipers.
Inside, the EV boats a layered dashboard with flowing lines and floating wings door handles. When it comes to features, BYD has loaded the Sealion 7 up to the brim. Key highlights include: –
