BYD e6 Electric MPV Launched At Rs 29.15 Lakh

Chinese electric carmaker BYD (Build Your Dreams) has launched the ''e6'' electric people mover in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), it's a 5-seater MPV that will only be available for the business-to-business (B2B) segment in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, and Vijayawada.

The BYD e6 uses a 71.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack that is claimed to offer a supreme drive range of up to 520 km (WLTC cycle). It powers a 95PS electric motor that churns out 180Nm, allowing a top speed of 130kmph. Using a DC fast charger can energize its battery from 30-80 percent in just 35 minutes. It also regenerates energy from as low as 2kmph. Buyers will have to pay Rs 45,000 extra for a 7kW AC wall-box charger.  

BYD has loaded the e6 with a host of premium equipment like projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights, LED tail-lights, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, 6-way adjustable front seats, a CN95 air filtration system, leather upholstery, adjustable headrests, and much more. It has 580 liters of boot space. 

BYD offers the e6 with 3 years / 1.25 lakh kilometer warranty (whichever is earlier). On the other hand, the battery pack and traction motor of the car get 8 years / 5 lakh km and 8 years / 1.50 lakh km warranty, respectively.

Speaking on the launch of the new model, Shrirang Joshi, sales head, electric passenger vehicle, BYD India, said –
