Designed on the Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 5 flaunts the brand’s ‘Parametric Dynamics’ design philosophy. The same platform also underpins the Kia EV6, which was launched earlier this year in India.

Fun Fact: Hyundai IONIQ 5 has won numerous awards in the global market, including World Car Of The Year (WCOTY 2022), German Car of the Year, UK Car of the Year, Auto Express’ Car of the Year, and Auto Bild’s Electric Car of the Year.

Globally, Hyundai offers the IONIQ 5 with two battery packs: 58kWh and 72.6 kWh. Both can be had with either a rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) or an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD). Its AWD variant with a 72.6 kWh battery pack is claimed to deliver a range of approximately 480 km on a single charge and produces a whopping power output of 306 PS, along with a peak torque output of 605 Nm. It can do the century sprint in just 5.2 seconds before attaining the top speed of 185 km/h.

Speaking of the charging capabilities, the electric crossover supports DC fast charging of up to 220kW that can juice up its battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. It also comes with “Vehicle to Load (V2L)” functionality that stimulates it as a 3.6kW charger for other electric vehicles/devices.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 interior and features

As for features, the IONIQ 5 comes loaded up to the brim. Key highlights include environmentally-sensitive materials, integrated 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and infotainment, a sliding centre console, dual-zone climate control, a wireless smartphone charger, powered front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a head-up display. These, along with its luxurious ‘Living Space’ cabin theme, make the IONIQ cabin a wonderful place to be inside.
