BMW India lineup gets the all-new M4 Competition Coupe at a starting price of Rs 1.44 crore (ex-showroom, India). Globally revealed in 2021, the new-gen M4 brags quite a few improvements when compared to its previous model.

2022 BMW M4 Competition – Powertrain
Powering the new BMW M4 Competition is a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 517PS of maximum power and 650Nm of peak torque (60PS/100Nm up from its predecessor), and comes mated to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system (first time for M4) with an Active M differential. However, it’s worth noting that it is a rear-biased setup, and you can choose between three drive variants – 4WD, 4WD Sport, and 2WD (DSC off mode).
The 2022 M4 Competition claims a 0-100 kmph sprint in merely 3.5 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 250kmph.
BMW M4 Competition – Design and Features
Exterior
The new-gen M4 Competition looks quite striking and elegant. It gets a large frameless kidney grille upfront with seven horizontal double louvers for the maximum throughput of cooling airs. There’s also the new & sleeker adaptive LED leaser headlamps and the aggressively styled bumper with gaping air intakes that gives its front facia a dynamic appearance.
On the side, the clean silhouette and blacked-out 19-or 20-inch M forged double-spoke wheels alloys round off its sporty look. It also gets a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof to keep the car’s weight in check.

At the back, the coupe gets a boot-mounted spoiler and a sculptured bumper with diffuser & quad exhausts that energize the overall appearance.
Interior and Features
The new M4 Competition retains the same dashboard layout as the regular Series 4, albeit with some M-specific touches and plenty of carbon fiber trims. It also gets an M carbon steering wheel and multi-adjustable M Sport seats with integrated headrests. Interestingly, users can also adjust the width of the backrests of these seats.
In terms of features, the 2022 BMW M4 Competition gets a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with smartphone integration and 16-speakers Harman Kardon sound system, powered front seats with memory function & lumbar support, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, head-up display (HUD), wireless charging, etc.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and much more.
Besides, BMW has also improved the torsional rigidity of the chassis and stiffer the suspension system for sharper driving dynamics.

In the Indian market, the BMW M4 Competition locks horns with the Audi RS5 Sportback that is currently priced at Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom).
