BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine – How is it different from the regular variants?

Visually, the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine looks identical to the standard variants. The only difference lies in its dimensions. Compared to the standard model, it is 120mm longer (4,819mm in length), whereas, at 2,961mm, its wheelbase is lengthened by 110mm. With this, the legroom at the rear has been increased by 43mm. Besides this, it also gets larger rear doors, and better bolstering & padding for the seats along with revised headrest, which intensify the comfort level of the sedan.

The Gran Limousine will be available in four colour options – Carbon Black, Cashmere Silver, Melbourne Red and Mineral White.

On the inside, the Gran Limousine gets some additional chrome garnishing on the centre console as well as on the steering wheel. It also gets a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, more ambient lighting, wood finishing on the dashboard, and a new colour scheme for the leather upholstery. On the other hand, the 330Li M Sport variant also features a head-up display and gesture control for the infotainment system and a 360-degree camera.

Apart from this, BMW has also announced that the first fifty customers of Gran Limousine will get a complimentary BMW Comfort Package worth Rs 1 lakh, which includes a 10.9-inch iPad AIR prefixed for rear passenger entertainment and a coat hanger.

The other notable features include LED lighting system, multi-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel, three-zone climate control, park assist, electrically adjustable front seats, and many more.

BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine – Engine & Gearbox

Like the regular variants, the 3 Series Gran Limousine also draws power from the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol (260PS/400Nm) and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel (190PS/400Nm) engines. Both engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets four driving modes (ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) along with Launch Control.

BMW claims that the petrol engine can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 6.2 seconds, whereas the diesel mill takes 7.6 seconds for the same.

Rivals

As of now, the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine does not have any direct rival. However, the standard model of 3 Series sedan lock horns with the Audi A4, Volvo S60, Mercedes-Benz C-class, and Jaguar XE. With the debut of Limousine trim, the 3 Series has become a more stronger contender in the luxury sedan segment.
