The Renault Duster Hybrid has finally been launched in India, with prices starting from Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This places it in direct competition with the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which was the most fuel-efficient hybrid SUV until now (on paper). However, fuel efficiency isn’t the only factor that matters when choosing a hybrid SUV. Both models differ in terms of pricing, powertrain specifications, features, comfort and overall practicality, which could influence a buyer’s decision. Author’s Take
On paper, the Renault Duster Hybrid makes a strong case for itself with competitive pricing and a robust hybrid setup that promises better performance and slightly higher fuel efficiency than the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid. It also has a larger footprint and a well-loaded equipment list. However, how these strengths translate into real-world performance and overall driving experience remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the Duster Hybrid poses a strong challenge to the Victoris Hybrid on paper, and is certainly worth considering for buyers looking for a feature-rich, fuel-efficient mid-size SUV.
