Mercedes-Benz has launched the facelift version of the S-Class long-wheelbase version in India, with prices starting from Rs 2.20 crore (introductory, ex-showroom). Its bookings are now open, while deliveries will commence around Diwali this year.

Exterior
- The facelifted S-Class features several visual enhancements, such as a larger grille with redesigned LED headlamps, which is claimed to offer 40% better illumination.
- For the very first time, the sedan also features an illuminated Mercedes-Benz bonnet emblem.
- Things remain largely unchanged on the sides, except for the new 18-inch alloy wheels.
- The other notable changes include minor revisions to the bumpers, a revised tail lamp setup with Mercedes star-inspired graphics for a distinct appeal.

Interior

- The 2026 S-Class features a completely redesigned dashboard layout, following a more tech-focused approach.
- That said, it now boasts a “Superscreen” setup, which consists of a 14.4-inch central touchscreen infotainment, 12.3-inch passenger-side screen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, running on Mercedes-Benz’ latest MB.OS software architecture.
- The centre console has also been redesigned to house dual wireless charging pads.
- Besides, extensive ambient lighting elements have been integrated throughout the cabin to further elevate the luxury experience, especially during nighttime driving.
- Mercedes has also replaced the previous 7-inch central controller tablet with two smartphone-like control units in the rear, allowing rear passengers to access and manage various comfort & entertainment functions.
- The German carmaker also claimed to improve cabin insulation to further reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels in the cabin.

Plug-in Hybrid on Duty
For the first time, Mercedes-Benz has offered the S-Class with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain in India, featuring a 3-litre, inline-six petrol engine paired with a 163PS rear-mounted electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack. It is claimed to generate a combined output of 449PS of max power and 680Nm of peak torque, with power being sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Aside from the new plug-in hybrid system, buyers also get the option of conventional powertrains with S450 petrol and S350d diesel variants, rated to make 404PS/500Nm and 330PS/650Nm.
