Toyota Rumion Gets New Entry-level E Variant At Rs 9.56 Lakh

Toyota Rumion, essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, now has a new entry-level variant named “E”, priced at Rs 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom). With this addition, the MPV is now available in a total of four variants: E, S, G, and V.

Toyota Rumion E: Design and Features

Being a base-spec trim in Toyota Rumion’s lineup, the E variant loses out on some cosmetic & convenience features. That said, it comes with unpainted, blacked-out door handles & side mirrors instead of body-coloured units. Besides, the turn indicators are mounted on the front fender instead of the ORVMs.

Inside, it continues to feature the same dashboard layout, wrapped in a dual-tone black & beige theme with a silver insert running across the width of the dash and door panels.

Compared to top-spec trims, it skips amenities like front fog lamps, automatic AC, infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, a centre armrest, seatback pockets, dedicated rear AC vents, rear camera and tyre pressure monitoring system.

That said, it only comes with basic amenities such as projector halogen headlamps, analogue instrument cluster with colour MID (multi-info display), manual AC controls, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, power windows with auto up/down function for driver, central locking, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, hill hold assist and rear parking sensors.

Engine Specifications

Powering the Rumion E variant is the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (103PS/139Nm) as the other variants; however, it only comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota also offers a factory-fitted CNG kit and automatic transmission options in higher variants of the Rumion.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the Toyota Rumion is placed against the Maruti Ertiga, on which it is based. It can also be seen as an affordable alternative to the Kia Carens, Maruti XL6 and Toyota Innova Crysta.
