Ola S1 Pro Plus With New 4680 Bharat Cell Deliveries Begin In India

Ola Electric has commenced deliveries of the S1 Pro Plus electric scooter, the first scooter to be powered by the indigenous 468 Bharat Cell. This makes Ola the first company in India to fully design and build its own battery cells and packs, signalling a major shift in its manufacturing approach.

Being produced at the brand’s new Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the 4680 Bharat Cell gets its name from its physical dimensions, 46mm in diameter and 80mm in height. These new battery cells offer various advantages over the standard 2170 cells, like higher energy density for improved range, better thermal management that helps in faster charging and a more consistent performance even at low charge levels. And since these are manufactured in-house, it reduces dependency on imports and helps lower long-term costs while boosting localisation and sustainability in India’s EV ecosystem.

About Ola S1 Pro Plus

Speaking about the S1 Pro Plus comes with a 5.2kWh battery pack, paired with a 13kW motor that can hit 0 to 40 kmph in 2.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 141 kmph. It has a claimed range of 320 km.

It also features the brand’s latest MoveOS that allows riders to customise the top speed, throttle sensitivity, peak torque & regenerative braking as per their liking. Besides, the scooter also gets a dual-tone seat, body-coloured mirrors, a die-cast aluminium grab handle, rim decals, a 7-inch TFT console, four riding modes (Hyper, Sport, Normal and Eco), brake-by-wire tech, multi-mode traction control, and disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

Priced at Rs 1,64,999 (including PM e-drive subsidy), the S1 Pro Plus takes on the likes of Ather 450 Apex, TVS iQube ST, Bajaj Chetak 35 Series and the Hero Vida V2 range of electric scooters in India.
