Bajaj Pulsar N150 Discontinued In India

Bajaj Auto has discontinued the Pulsar N150 from its Indian lineup. The bike has also been removed from the official website.

The Pulsar N150 was launched in September 2023 and, before being axed, it was priced at Rs 1,24,730 (ex-showroom).

Bajaj Pulsar N150 – Reason for Discontinuation

Bajaj Auto’s decision to discontinue the Pulsar N150 raises questions about the model’s market demand, product positioning and Bajaj’s evolving strategy in the hotly congested 150-160cc segment. Its discontinuation in such a short period could be due to its poor sales.

For those unaware, the Bajaj Pulsar N150 shared its underpinnings with its bigger sibling, the Pulsar N160, but with some cost-cutting measures, such as: –

  • Telescopic fork instead of inverted forks
  • Single-channel ABS instead of dual-channel ABS

The smaller price difference of around Rs 8,000 between the Pulsar N150 and N160 didn’t do enough to justify the existence of the N150 alongside its elder sibling. As a result, it failed to gain market traction.

Its feature list included modern amenities like an LED headlamp and tail lamp, a negative instrument cluster with Bluetooth-based smartphone connectivity support via the Ride Connect app, call alert, real-time mileage indicator and distance-to-empty readouts. These additions were not significantly ahead of the competition. Its rivals, like TVS Apache RTR 160 and Hero Xtreme 160R, offer more aggressive styling, better technology and more advanced features.

Powering it was a 149.68cc air-cooled engine (14.5PS/13.5Nm), mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Though the engine was refined, its rivals in the 160cc bracket offered a more powerful liquid-cooled engine with better performance & power-to-weight ratio, making the Pulsar N150 underwhelming for enthusiast riders.

With all the above-mentioned reasons, it struggled to stand out in its highly competitive, price-sensitive segment.
