Maruti Suzuki Leads Sales Chart In Jan 2025; Hyundai Creta Tops SUV Charts

India’s passenger vehicle market saw a strong start in 2025, with Maruti Suzuki maintaining its dominance in the industry. According to the latest sales data, Maruti Suzuki led the market by a massive margin, selling 1,73,599 units, followed by Hyundai at 54,003 units and Mahindra at 50,659 units.

Among individual models, the Maruti Wagon R emerged as the best-selling car, registering 24,078 units. The Baleno followed closely with 19,965 units, while the Hyundai Creta, the highest-selling SUV, secured third place with 18,522 units. Other top performers included the Maruti Swift (17,081 units) and Tata Punch (16,231 units), which continued to attract buyers with their compact dimensions and fuel efficiency.

SUVs remained a hot favorite among buyers, with the Hyundai Creta leading the segment with 18,522 units sold. Tata Punch and Maruti Grand Vitara also recorded strong sales, with 16,231 units and 15,784 units, respectively. Mahindra’s Scorpio (15,422 units) and Tata Nexon (15,397 units) continued to be key players in the segment, while the Maruti Fronx and Brezza also found spots in the top 10. The Mahindra XUV 3XO registered 8,454 units, while its bigger sibling, the XUV700, managed 8,399 units, reinforcing Mahindra’s strong foothold in the SUV category.
