Following numerous spy shots and a series of teasers, the upgraded Force Gurkha has finally arrived. It is now available in two body styles: 3-door and 5-door. Their bookings are now open for Rs 25,000, while prices will be announced in May 2024.

2024 Force Gurkha – What’s New?

More Powerful Engine

  • Powering both the Gurkha 3-and 5-door is the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine as the outgoing model. However, it now boasts a remarkable 50 per cent more power output.
  • With this enhancement, the engine generates an impressive 140PS of max power, marking a substantial boost of 49PS compared to the previous model. The torque output has also been surged to 320Nm (+70Nm than before).
  • This makes the new Gurkha more powerful and torquier than the Mahindra Thar 2.2L diesel (132PS/300Nm).
  • Unlike the Thar, which is also available with an automatic transmission, the Gurkha is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
  • Force now also offers the Gurkha with an idle start/stop system, which should enhance its fuel efficiency.

G-Wagon Inspired Design

  • The 2024 Force Gurkha maintains its iconic boxy design, reminiscent of the Mercedes G-Wagon, with no major alterations.
  • Both the 3-door and 5-door variants feature circular LED headlamps equipped with cornering and follow-me-home functions, accompanied by LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).
  • Up front, they sport a two-slat grille adorned with the Gurkha nameplate.
  • Positioned at the rear of the Gurkha 5-door is a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate, accompanied by a ladder for roof rack access and LED tail lights.
  • The SUV proudly displays the ‘Gurkha’ and ‘Force’ emblems on its rear, with the wiper conveniently placed behind the spare wheel.
  • Additionally, a ‘4x4x4’ badge adorns the rear fenders of the vehicle, highlighting its robust off-road capabilities.
  • In terms of dimensions, the 5-door version boasts a longer wheelbase of 2,825mm, providing ample space for the additional rear doors, compared to the 3-door variant.
  • The overall length of the Gurkha 5-door is extended by 425mm, with an added height of 15mm and a turning radius of 6.3m, as opposed to the 3-door’s 5.5m.
  • Despite these differences, various metrics remain consistent between the two models, including front and rear overhangs of 750mm and 815mm, respectively.
  • Additionally, both versions offer a 700mm water wading ability, facilitated by a standard snorkel intake, and share a departure angle of 37 degrees, a rampover angle of 29 degrees, and a gradability of 35 degrees.

More Feature-rich Cabin

  • The dashboard design of the new Gurkha closely resembles that of the previous model, with notable upgrades including a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous 7.0-inch unit. It is now equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
  • Additionally, the Gurkha now features a digital instrument cluster, powered side mirrors, tilt & telescopic steering adjustment, a rear camera, traction control, hill-hold assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system that extends its coverage to the spare tyre mounted on the tailgate. The SUV also features three-point seat belts for all passengers.
  • It also gets a new shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob, situated next to the driver’s seat on the centre console, replacing the manual transfer case from the previous model.
  • Regarding seating arrangements, the 3-door version remains a four-seater, while the Gurkha 5-door offers a seven-seat layout, featuring a bench-type seat in the middle row and two captain seats in the third row.
