Honda Activa Electric To Be Launched In Early 2025

The Honda Activa Electric (codenamed K4BA) has been in development for some time now. Recent updates reveal more about Honda’s production plans and the revised launch timeline for the scooter.

According to some media reports, Honda is increasing its production capacity by installing two new manufacturing lines at its factories in Gujarat and Karnataka to cater to the growing demand for its vehicles. The production of the Honda Activa Electric is slated to begin at the Karnataka-based facility by the end of this year, following its launch in early 2025. Reports indicate that the company has not yet returned to its pre-COVID levels but remains optimistic about robust growth prospects in the future, prompting the addition of new capacities. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India aims for a double-digit growth exceeding 15 per cent in FY25.

Speaking of Activa Electric, it will likely be based on a new EV-dedicated platform called Platform-E. It is expected to feature a swingarm-mounted motor. Earlier, Honda revealed that out of its two upcoming EVs, one will be a fixed-battery type EV, while the other will feature battery-swapping technology. The Activa EV is expected to be a mid-range offering with a fixed-type battery unit.

The Activa EV will incorporate extensively localised motors, batteries, power control units (PCU), and chargers to ensure competitive pricing. This localisation effort aims to make Honda EVs better suited for Indian weather conditions. Expect it to be priced over Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQUBE, Ather Rizta and Ola S1 lineup.
