Top 5 Diesel SUVs Launching Soon In India

While the market for diesel vehicles has shrunk in the recent past due to strict regulations, it still remains quite popular among SUVs. In this story, we delve into the top five upcoming diesel-powered SUVs from mass manufacturers which are expected to be launched in 2024:-

Mahindra’s smallest SUV is due for a midlife facelift update this year. The upcoming model will feature several cosmetic updates, aligning it with the latest design language seen in other Mahindra SUVs. Inside, expect a cabin design reminiscent of the recently refreshed XUV400 EV. The upgraded SUV will also receive tons of new features, including a new floating touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display. Tata Motors is expected to launch the ICE-powered Curvv coupe SUV this year around the festive season. It will be powered by the Nexon’s 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 113PS at 3750rpm and 260Nm at 1500-2750rpm. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is also likely to get a new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine (122PS/225Nm), paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Following the launch of the upgraded Creta, Hyundai’s next second big launch (after the Creta N Line) will be the facelifted Alcazar, which is likely to hit the market by mid-2024. The styling updates on the upcoming Alcazar facelift are expected to be on par with the 2024 Creta, albeit with some unique elements to set it apart from its 5-seater counterpart. The similarities will also be carried inside the cabin but with a different cabin scheme and additional features over the Creta.

Underneath the hood, it will continue to retain the ongoing 1.5-litre diesel and turbocharged petrol engines.

The Gloster, now in its fourth year of sales, is slated for a much-anticipated refresh before the year ends. Expect significant exterior updates, including a redesigned grille, new light units, refreshed bumpers, and more robust cladding. Its 2-litre turbocharged and twin-turbocharged petrol engines are expected to remain unchanged.

The 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, which is likely to be called Thar Armada, is undergoing testing for a while. It will be a more upmarket offering than its 3-door counterpart. Undernearth the hood, it will continue with the 3-door model’s 2.2-litre diesel engine; albiet in a higher state of tune. For reference, the Thar 3-door’s 2.2L diesel engine makes 132PS and 300Nm. The smaller Thar is also available with a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine (118PS/300Nm); however, it is unlikely to make to the extended Thar. Click here for more details.
