Powertrain

Since the Sound Editions are based on the Dynamic Line, they only get the 1-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 115PS of max power and 178Nm of peak torque. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen also offers the range-topping GT line variant of both Taigun and Virtus with a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill (150PS/250Nm) paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).

Competition Check

The Volkswagen Taigun is a rival to the likes of MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and Skoda Kushaq. On the other hand, the VW Virtus faces competition from the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.
