The upcoming launch of the CNG-powered Tata Altroz will also mark the introduction of a new variant called XM+ (S). Positioned between the XM+ and XT variants, it will be available with three powertrain options: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol-CNG. The turbo-petrol engine won’t be on offer with this new trim.
Tata Altroz XM+ (S) – What’s New?
Positioning above the XM+ variant, the new XM+ (S) trim will get a host of additional features over the former. This will include: –
- A single-pane electric sunroof with voice assist
- Sharkfin antenna
- A digital instrument cluster (CNG only)
- Premium knitted roof liner
- Front rain-sensing wipers
Expect this new trim to command a significant price premium over the XM+ variant, which is currently priced between Rs 7.55 lakh and Rs 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

- The eco-friendly variant of the Tata Altroz will utilize the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. However, when fueled with natural gas, the engine will produce a slightly reduced power output of 77PS/97Nm, as opposed to the petrol-only variant’s output of 86PS/113Nm.
Author’s Take
With its diverse range of engine options including N.A. Petrol, Turbo-Petrol, CNG, and Diesel, the Altroz stands tall as the trailblazer among mid-size hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza.
