Hyundai IONIQ 5 Electric SUV Launched At Rs 44.95 Lakh

Hyundai India has launched the IONIQ 5 electric SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom), valid for the first 500 customers only. Bookings for the EV are already underway, while its deliveries are expected to commence soon.

Based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the Kia EV6, the IONIQ 5 flaunts the brand’s Parametric Pixel design theme. Its boxy silhouette makes it stand out from the mass. Speaking of the dimension, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is 4,635mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,605mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 3,000mm and a ground clearance of 165mm. And since its battery pack is placed inside the floor (between the front and rear axles), it offers abundant cabin space.

Inside, the IONIQ 5 has a minimalist-designed dashboard layout with the twin screens taking centre stage. What makes the IONIQ 5 more interesting is that it comes with a moveable centre console that can slide back by 140mm. It also uses various environmentally-sensitive materials like plant-based wools, recycled PET bottles, eco-processed leather, bio paint, etc., for the various interior parts, including seats and door trims.

Features highlights of the SUV include 12-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 12-inch digital driver’s display, augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD), dual-zone climate control, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, and Hyundai SmartSense technology (ADAS) that comprises reader-based active safety features like a surround-view monitor, forward collision-avoidance assist, high beam assist, intelligent speed limit assist, highway driving assist 2, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, parking collision-avoidance assist, and remote smart parking assist.

Hyundai has offered the IONIQ 5 with a 72.6 kWh battery pack, paired with a rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD). It is claimed to deliver a range of approximately 631 km on a single charge and produces a whopping power output of 217PS, along with a peak torque output of 350Nm. It can do the century sprint in just 7.6 seconds.

In the Indian market, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will go up against the Kia EV6, BMW i4 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
