Tata Punch EV Will Soon Be A Reality

Tata Motors is currently leading India’s electric mobility journey with over 60 per cent market share. Currently, the homegrown carmaker has three EVs in its lineup: Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV. Now, the carmaker is all set to expand its EV footprint with the launch of an electric iteration of the Punch micro SUV. Expect Tata to unveil the Punch EV at the 2023 Auto Expo in January as a competitor to the upcoming Citroen eC3.

Similar to its ICE counterpart, the electrified Punch will also be based on Tata’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, which is EV-ready and can suit multiple body styles. Expect Punch EV to get the same Ziptron EV tech offered in other Tata EVs. While it’s not official, it is expected to come with two battery pack options, offering a range of approximately 350 kilometres on a single charge.

Desing-wise, the Punch EV will look similar to its ICE version save for more EV-specific visual changes, such as a closed-off grille, slightly tweaked bumpers and prominent blue accents both inside and outside to denote its electric nature.

Expect the Tata Punch EV to carry forward all the features of its ICE version, including auto projector headlamps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, iRA-connected car tech, auto AC, semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, auto-wipers, dual-front airbags and more. It is also likely to get features like a tyre pressure monitoring system and multi-level regen braking.

Expect Tata to price the Punch EV from around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
