Next-Gen Maruti Swift, Dzire To Get Strong-Hybrid Engines; Launch In 2024

Following the success of the Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its strong-hybrid engines on the next-generation Swift and Dzire. Both are expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024.

As per the reports, the next-generation Swift and Dzire will be powered by Suzuki’s all-new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine (codenamed Z12E), paired with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology found in the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. And you will be delighted to know that the upcoming Swift and Dzire strong hybrid models are expected to deliver ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of approximately 35-40 kmpl. This will also benefit Maruti’s CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) rating.

While it is not official, the strong-hybrid powertrain is likely to be restricted to their higher-spec variants, whereas the lower-spec trims will continue to be available in CNG and mild-hybrid petrol guises. The petrol-only version is likely to be a flex-fuel unit, which is currently under development. Expect the strong-hybrid variants of Swift and Dzire to command a significant price premium of around Rs 1-1.5 lakh over their non-hybrid variants.
