Maruti Baleno CNG vs Toyota Glanza CNG โ€“ Which Car Should You Buy?

Weeks after the launch of the Maruti Baleno CNG, its rebadged version, the Toyota Glanza, has also received the greener factory-fitted CNG kit option. Available in their mid-spec and second-from-the-top variants, the Toyota Glanza CNG is up to Rs 25,000 more expensive than the Baleno CNG. So, is this extra premium really worth the money, or should you go for the Baleno instead? Letโ€™s find out.

  • Buyers eyeing Toyota Glanza CNG will have to pay up to Rs 25,000 extra over the Baleno CNG. For this, additional dough the Glanza gets a longer standard warranty of 3 years/1 lakh km, compared to the Balenoโ€™s 2 years/40,000km. It also brings some prominent styling changes, like a more aggressive front facia, a differently designed lighting system and alloy wheels, and a much richer dual-tone black-&-beige colour scheme. Maruti Baleno CNG vs Toyota Glanza CNG
  • Powering both the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza are the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder DualJet DualVVT petrol engine that makes 77.5PS/98.5Nm in CNG mode, a drop of 12.5PS/14.5Nm from its petrol guise. Both come mated to only a 5-speed manual transmission and get a 55-litre (water equivalent) CNG tank. They claim an identical fuel efficiency of 30.6km/kg.
  • In terms of features, both the Maruti Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG continue with the same equipment list as their corresponding regular variants. These include automatic LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with Start/Stop button, auto AC, rear AC vents, a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice assistant, OTA software update, connected car tech, 6 airbags and a rear-view camera. Features like a head-up display, 360-degree surround view system, auto-dimming IRVM, Arkamys-tuned sound system, and cruise control are limited to their top-spec petrol-only variants.
