Hyundai Creta Diesel vs Toyota Hyryder Strong-Hybrid: Which Car Makes More Sense

Over the past decade, Hyundai Creta has dominated the midsize SUV segment and its impressive sales are largely due to its diesel variants. But with the tightening emission norms and skyrocketing fuel prices, electric and hybrid vehicles are gaining traction. And in this process, Toyota has recently launched the Hyryder SUV with a self-charging strong-hybrid powertrain option, giving a tough fight to the Hyundai Creta. Here we have compared both SUVs to understand which will be more beneficial for you.

  • On paper, the power figures of both SUVs are on par; however, the Creta diesel takes lead when torque output is concerned.
  • In real-world driving conditions, this 1.5-litre diesel engine of the Hyundai Creta offers a very enjoyable experience in both city and highway driving. It feels very smooth & refined and moves in a very linear manner from low revs. The Toyota Hyryder Hybrid, on the other hand, offers great initial repose due to the EV mode and can cruise on triple digits without any hassle; however, the performance isn’t as exciting as the Hyundai Creta. A laid-back style of driving is well suited to this vehicle.
  • In terms of fuel efficiency, the Hyryder has an edge over the Creta Diesel. And if the claimed fuel efficiency figures are anything to go by, the Hyryder will provide you with an expenditure advantage of Rs 0.76 per km over the Creta diesel. However, the real fuel efficiency figures will differ in actual driving conditions.
