2022 Maruti Baleno Bags Over 50,000 Bookings; Waiting Period Stretching To 1.5 Months

Continuing its dominance in the premium hatchback segment, the recently upgraded 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has crossed the 50,000 booking mark in less than a month of its arrival. With this, it is now commanding a waiting period of up to 1.5 months, depending on the variant and location.

For those who aren’t aware, the Maruti Baleno has undergone subtle design, features, and mechanical changes with the facelift update. That said, it gets a revised front grille, new lighting system, and redesigned bumpers at both ends. Inside, it receives a completely overhauled cabin design, with a new 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, and revised climate control panel.

On the features front, the car has gained the segment’s first heads-up display (HUD), 360-degree surround view system, rear AC vents, connected car tech with remote control functionality, Arkamys tuned sound system, slightly revised instrument cluster, up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist and much more.

Powering the 2022 Maruti Baleno is a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder, DualJet DualVVT petrol engine (90PS/113Nm), paired with a standard 5-speed manual and an optional 5-speed AMT. The mild-hybrid tech offered with its pre-facelift model has been switched with the idle-engine start/stop system. With this, it is claimed to return a fuel economy of 22.35kmpl with manual and 22.94km with AMT.

Maruti Suzuki offers the new Baleno in four broad trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, priced from Rs 6.35 lakh to Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). It locks horns with the Hyundai 20, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, and Volkswagen Polo.
