Cars With ADAS Tech Under Rs 40 Lakh – MG Astor, XUV700, Gloster

Technology is booming, and it’s influencing all the sectors. Today, cars aren’t what they used to be a few years ago. With each progressing year, automobiles are getting more and more smarter. The features which used to be a luxury earlier are slowly becoming a commodity, and ADAS is one of them.

ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are a group of active safety technologies that assist drivers to avoid accidents made in case of human error. Essentials ADAS features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning/Correction, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection System, Traffic Light Recognition, Pedestrian Collision Warning/Avoidance, and much more. Currently, three cars offer you ADAS technology in India under Rs 40 lakhs. These includes:

MG Astor

Current Price: Rs 16.12 – 17.72 lakh (Savvy trim)

The cheapest and most recent addition to this list, the Astor is the smartest car offered by MG. It gets Lane Departure Prevention, Speed Assist System, Intelligent Headlamp Control, etc. Apart from level-2 ADAS technology, the car has its own personal AI assistant.

The MG Astor comes with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS/220Nm) and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill (110PS/144Nm). While the former is paired with a 6-speed automatic, the latter gets a 6-speed manual and CVT options.

Mahindra XUV700

Price: Rs 22..4 – 23.80 lakh (AX7 Luxury Pack)

Winner of many accolades and the most sought-after car in the country, the Mahindra XUV700 has won many hearts since it arrived in the Indian market. Its top-of-the-line AX7 trim with luxury pack comes equipped with ADAS technology, with engine options of either a 2.0-liter mStallion petrol with 200PS of max power and 380Nm of torque or the iconic 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with up to 185PS of power and 450Nm of torque.

Currently, the Mahindra XUV700 is the safest vehicle in the country with the highest NCAP rating. Aye, you will surely get a bang for your money on all aspects when you go for the XUV700…that is if you’ve managed to get your hands on it!

MG Gloster

Price: Rs 38.99 lakh (Savvy variant)

The most expensive of the bunch but for all the right reasons, the MG Gloster, with its behemoth stature will make heads turn and have them make way for you. ADAS comes equipped with Gloster’s top-of-the-line Savvy variant, which gets a class-leading 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine churning out 218PS of power and 480Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and 4-wheel-drivetrain (4WD). So rest assured, your comfort and peace of mind are maintained both on and off-road when you’re sitting in this capable machine.

So far, we have three cars that offer Level-1 and 2 ADAS capabilities in India, but the competition is yet to catch up, which means this list is expected to grow exponentially in the near future. We are expecting manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, MG, Tata, Jeep Toyota, and Maruti to offer ADAS in their lineup of cars like the Seltos by Kia; Alcazar & Creta by Hyundai; Safari and Harrier by Tata; Hector and Hector Plus by MG, Meridian by Jeep, and the upcoming Creta rival mid-size SUV by Maruti and Toyota.
