January 2022 Sales Report: Top 10 Highest Selling Brands

The sales reports for the first month of 2022 are out, and interestingly, the Indian automotive industry has a strong start with most of the carmakers registering positive growth on the Month-on-Month (MoM) graph. The top spots are taken up by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai as always. However, it’s the Tata Motors that has done splendidly well when Year-on-Year (YoY) sales are concerned.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 best-selling carmakers in January 2022: –

  • As expected, Maruti Suzuki retained its hold on the market despite witnessing a drop of approximately 2 lakh sales units as compared to January 2021. However, it achieved an 11.6 percent market gain as opposed to the previous month.
  • Taking its usual place back, Hyundai arrived at second, with Tata marginally behind at third. It has recorded the highest YoY gain.
  • Thanks to the XUV700, the Mahindra stood at fourth, while the Kia came at the fifth spot, recording the highest MoM growth among all.
  • Honda, Renault, Toyota, MG, and Nissan rounded out the next five spots on the list. However, Toyota was the only carmaker to register a negative change in both YoY and MoM sales figures.
