The Toyota Hilux shares its underpinnings with the Innova Crysta and Fortuner. However, at 5,285mm, it will be longer than both of its siblings. It is likely to be available in two variants – Hilux and Hilux Reo.
Features onboard are likely to include bi-beam LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, chrome-surround for the large grille, alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered driver’s seat, keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, cruise control, multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill start/descent assist, rear parking sensors with a reversing camera.
If reports are to be believed, the Hilux will get two diesel engine options – a 150PS 2.4-liter unit from Innova and a more powerful 204PS 2.8-liter diesel engine from Fortuner. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for both motors. While both engines could get a rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) as standard, the bigger capacity mill could also come with an optional four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) along with High (H4) & Low (L4) range, an electronic locking differential, and a traction control system.
Toyota is likely to assemble the Hilux locally, and thus, its prices could lie between Rs 20 to 25 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
