Yamaha MT-15 MotoGP Edition Launched At Rs 1.48 Lakh

Japanese bikemaker Yamaha has launched the Monster Energy MotoGP Edition of its naked streetfighter, the MT-15, at Rs 1,47,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it Rs 3,000 costlier than its standard version. Interested customers can book the motorcycle at Yamaha’s official website for a token amount of Rs 2,000. It will be offered in limited numbers only.

Similar to the FZ25 MotoGP Edition, which was launched last month, the MT-15 MotoGP Edition also gets a slew of cosmetic updates to give it a distinctive appearance from its regular model. It features an all-black color scheme with a golden Yamaha logo and Monster Energy graphics on the fuel tank. In addition, it also gets blue color decals with Yamaha badging on the radiator shrouds, blue inserts around the fuel lid, and Eneos stickers with Yamaha’s slogan ‘Revs Your Heart’ on the tail section.

Apart from these cosmetic additions, the bike remains unchanged. That said, the Yamaha MT-15 MotoGP Edition continuous to be powered by the same VVA-equipped 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor as the standard model that belts out 18.5PS/13.9Nm, coupled to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-&-assist clutch. For those who aren't aware, the assist-&-slipper clutch actually reduces the effects of engine braking by decreasing the lever effort and preventing the rear wheel from locking up while downshifting aggressively.

Other notable features of the Yamaha MT-15 include LED headlamps & tail lamps, negative LCD instrument cluster, side-stand engine cut-off function, and single-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS). The suspension setup, on the other hand, comprises a telescopic front fork and a linked rear monoshock. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in a 100-section front and 140-section tubeless radial tires. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends (282mm & 220mm).
