Apart from the above-mentioned changes, both motorcycles remain unchanged. They continue to draw their power from a 1,254cc air/liquid-cooled four-stroke flat twin-engine, featuring BMW’s ShiftCam variable valve timing technology. Though both the models use the same engine, their specifications create a difference between them. For reference, the Adventure variant is more adventure-oriented thanks to its more suspension travel (front 210mm & rear 220mm, compared to the 190mm front, 200mm rear travel of R 1250 GS), a higher seat height of 890mm (+40mm), 30-litres of fuel tank capacity (+10-litres), added crash protection, a more generous luggage mount, a taller windscreen, and more. With all these added equipment, the Adventure variant weighs 268kg, 19kg more than the standard GS variant.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the R 1250 GS competes against the Harley Davidson Pan America and the upcoming Ducati Multistrada V4.
