2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Finally Made A Comeback

After a year-long suspension from the Indian market, Isuzu's D-Max V-Cross lifestyle pickup truck has finally made a comeback in BS6-compliant avatar. Priced between Rs 16.98 lakh and Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated D-Max is now available in two levels of trims: – Hi-Lander (New) and V-Cross, with the latter getting two sub-variants – Z and Z Prestige. The Hi-Lander will be the new base model that has replaced the Standard 4×4 variant.

The 2021 D-Max V-Cross is now more expensive by up to Rs 4.50 lakh, which is a huge price premium. It has also received two new variants- Hi-lander 4×2 manual and Z 4×2 automatic. 

2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross – Engine 

The new D-Max V-Cross is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.9-liter diesel engine that produces 163PS and 360Nm, which is 13PS and 10Nm more output than its BS4 iteration. The engine continues to get a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission along with a new 6-speed manual gearbox. As mentioned above, the 2021 Isuzu pickup truck is available with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. 

2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross – Design & Features

As for features, the new entry-level variant, Hi-Lander, gets only a basic set of features such as halogen headlamps, blacked-out outer mirrors, steel wheels with covers, power steering, manual AC, power windows, a basic semi-digital instrument cluster with a colored MID, 60:40 foldable rear split seat, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages, etc. It misses out on a keyless entry system, music player, side steps, and other prominent features. 

On the other hand, the top-spec V-Cross Z Prestige trim comes equipped with features like bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, alloy wheels, keyless entry with push engine start/stop button, automatic climate control, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, shift-on-fly 4WD knob, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 8-speaker sound system with roof-mounted speakers, steering-mounted audio & telephony controls, cruise control, and a reverse parking camera. 

Design-wise, the pickup remains unchanged.

Rivals

As of now, there’s no primary rival to the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. However, in its price range, there are several other models with 4×4 capabilities available in the Indian market, such as Mahindra Thar (Rs 12.11 – 14.16 lakh), Jeep Compass (Rs 16.99 – 28.29 lakh), Hyundai Tucson (Rs 22.57 – 27.35 lakh)
