Next-Gen Mahindra XUV500 And Scorpio Spied With Sunroof

Mahindra has two new-generation models on its menu for this year, including the 2021 XUV500 and Scorpio. Both SUVs are currently in the testing phase and have been spied numerous times on the Indian roads. Now, an image of the five production-ready testing mules of these two SUVs has emerged on the interwebs, revealing the sunroof design of the two.

As the above image indicates, both SUVs will get a factory-fitted sunroof on their top-spec variants. However, the upcoming XUV500 will get a two-pane panoramic sunroof, whereas the Scorpio will get a regular unit.

Not only the sunroof but both new generation models will also receive complete design makeover along with several new features addition. Starting with the next-gen Scorpio, it will be based on the all-new ladder-on-frame chassis, which also underpins the second-generation Thar. It will be bigger and wider than the ongoing model. In terms of design, the 2021 Scorpio will feature a new seven-slat grille, flanked by a new two-barrel LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. It will also get redesigned bumpers, refreshed alloy wheels, and rear disc brakes.

The cabin will also undergo a complete overhaul. Revealed by the earlier spy shots, it will receive a dual-tone cabin. Other expected features onboard include a larger touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, a new instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a push-button engine start/stop with keyless entry, multifunction steering wheel, power-adjustable driver's seat, multiple airbags, etc.

Like the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio, the new XUV500 will also get a complete makeover. Recently, it's interior has also been spied without any camouflage. Click here, if you haven't seen the new XUV500's cabin yet.

Both the new-generation Mahindra SUVs are likely to borrow the engine options from the current-gen Thar that includes 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel units. However, they are expected to come in a different engine tuning.

Except both SUVs to demand a significant premium over their existing model. For reference, the current-gen Scorpio is priced between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 16.53 lakh, while the XUV500 retails from Rs 15.13 lakh to Rs 19.56 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Convertible hardtop Thar is in works?

If you carefully look at the first image, you can notice a Thar is leading all vehicles. While it is not confirmed, it could be a convertible hardtop variant of the hardcore off-roader which was also spied in January this year.
