5 Things To Know About The KTM 250 Adventure

Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer, KTM is all set to launch its entry-level 250 Adventure motorcycle in India. It has been spotted testing several times and will be the younger sibling to the very popular global offering, KTM 390 ADV. Here is why the bike has got us excited and is worth waiting for-

Looks similar to KTM 390 Adventure

The KTM 250 Adventurer looks remarkably similar to its elder cousin, the 390 Adventure, which frankly is a great positive point working in the former's favor. Design bits including belly pan, radiator shroud, fuel tank extension parts, and almost the entire tail section have directly been carried over from the 390 ADV. The front, though is identical in design, 250 ADV will miss out on the all-LED treatment offered with the 390 ADV.

Superior underpinnings

The fact that KTM 250 Adventurer will share a fair amount of pieces from 390 only helps its cause, and the case with the underpinning is no different. The KTM 250 Adventurer will come equipped with 43mm WP USD forks and WP Apex Monoshock (preload adjustment) rear unit.

The bike will get a 320mm single disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear, handling the braking duties. These braking systems will be assisted by dual-channel ABS and the bike will also feature a dedicated off-roading mode which packs it with the ability to take it anywhere. Its ground clearance will be 200mm (53mm more than the Duke).

Features the same engine as KTM 250

As the name suggests, KTM 250 Adventurer will be powered by a 248.8cc engine that puts out a power output of 30HP while the torque output stands at 24Nm. This is the same mill that propels KTM 250 Duke and will come coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.

Being a proven engine, it is super reliable and fares well for both city commutes and long highway rides. The fact that the 250 gets the same 14.5L fuel tank as that of KTM 390 means that it will make for a great touring bike.

Will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan

As far as the current market scenario is concerned, Royal Enfield Himalayan is undisputedly one of the most worthy adventure-tourer bikes available in India. The RE off-roader has worked upon the traditional shortcomings of the other bikes and still manages to retain the charm of owning a Royal Enfield.

It will be quite some task for the KTM 250 Adventurer to take on Himalayan, the Austrian manufacturer will be hoping that the bike will ride well on the success of other KTM offerings in India and will be able to do well. The pricing thus will have a very important role to play.

Launch just around the corner

While the company was planning to launch the KTM 250 ADV in the first quarter of 2020, the onset of COVID situations eventually led to the company delaying the launch. The bike has been spotted testing aggressively in the past couple of months suggesting that its launch is just around the corner.

The KTM 250 ADV can be expected to hit the dealership sometime around next month. When launched, it can be priced somewhere between Rs 2.00- 2.50 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
