Maruti Vitara Brezza Clocked 5.5 Lakh Units Sales Milestone

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has become the no.1 sub-4m SUV in terms of sales as the car has crossed the 5.5 lakh units selling mark in just 4.5 years. This means that around 335 units of Vitara Brezza are sold every day, which is a very pompous number for any car.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza was launched in early 2016 and over a period of one year, it recorded sales of one lakh units. This was no surprise as most Maruti cars sell well in their respective segment. But Vitara Brezza belongs to a division that is currently the most sought-after and despite having a plethora of options in the segment, it has not lost its charm yet.

On 24th February 2020, Maruti launched the petrol version of Vitara Brezza. Earlier it was only available with the 1.3-liter diesel engine which now has been discontinued. If you look at the figures, you will find that by March 2020 around 5.2 lakh units of Brezza were sold. This means that the credit of this exceptional sale essentially goes to the Vitara Brezza diesel. On the other hand, the Vitara Brezza petrol has managed to sell over 32,000 units in the span of six months (till august 2020). However, within this period, the market has also experienced a nationwide lockdown.

Till now, the Maruti has done extremely well in the sub-4m SUV segment thanks to its diesel version. But in the fast-growing segment, Hyundai Venue and the newly launched Kia Sonet are emerging as the new segment leaders. Both cars are capable enough to make a place in the buyer's heart with their wide powertrain options and best-in-class features list. It is important to note that the Hyundai Venue has also crossed the one lakh sales mark in June 2020 and that too in a period of one year only.

As per the sales record of the last month, Kia has managed to sold 9,266 units of Sonet SUV, beating Vitara Brezza with 113 units. On the other hand, the Hyundai Venue recorded 8,469 units of sales in September 2020. These sales figures are the wake-up alarm for Maruti Suzuki for sure.

About Maruti Vitara Brezza

Currently, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is only available with the 1.5-liter petrol engine that churns out 105PS of maximum power and 138Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is offered in four variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi+, and their prices lie between Rs 7.34 lakh to Rs 11.4 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It the sub-4m space, it competes against the like of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and the upcoming Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
