MG ZS EV Is Now Available In Ten New Cities

Morris Garages has recently announced that its ZS EV will now be available in ten new cities: Agra, Aurangabad, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Indore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Nagpur, and Visakhapatnam. The expansion move comes after the 1000th unit of the ZS EV rolled-out in the county. With this, the MG's electric SUV is now available in a total of 21 cities across India.

The British-Chinese brand has started pre-bookings at a token amount of Rs 50,000 in these cities. Interested customers can also book the car on MG's official website. The MG Motor is now gearing up to set up the EV charging stations across these cities under its partnership with Tata Power and Finland-based Clean Energy major Fortum.

Commenting on the expansion, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, said:-

"India is today taking steps in the right direction in the green energy and infrastructure space and we appreciate the recent steps taken by our central and state government in the field of EVs. These steps will contribute to an increased demand for EVs in India in the long-term. In the light of these developments, we are delighted to initiate the next phase of our ZS EV expansion which will work towards driving superior EV adoption in the country."

MG ZS EV  range

  • Variant & Pricing: The MG ZS EV is available in two trims: Excite and Exclusive. The base Excite variant is priced at Rs 20.88 lakh while the Exclusive trim retails at Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 
  • Powertrain: The MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery which is coupled to an electric motor that develops 143PS of maximum power and 353Nm of peak torque. It can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 8.5 seconds. 
  • Drive Range: The company claims a driving range of 340km with ZS EV on a single charge.

  • Charging System & Time: With the ZS EV, MG offers a 7.4kW AC wall-box fast charger which the company installs at your preferred location without any extra cost. It takes 6-8 hours to juice up the car's battery from 0 to 100%. Additionally, MG also offers a portable charging socket that can be connected to any 15A power socket and it takes around 15 to 16 hours for a full charge. It also supports fast charging system and the ZS EV can be juiced up by a 50kW DC fast charger from 0 to 80% in less than 50 minutes.

  • Key Features: MG ZS EV is a features loaded car. It comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, an inbuilt air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, 60:40 split rear seats, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, electronic stability control (ESC) and hill descent control, etc. 

  • Competitors: As per the price, the Hyundai Kona Electric is the only direct rival of the ZS EV. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV comes as a cheaper alternative. It is smaller in proportions and offers less drive range & features compared to both these EVs.
