MoRTH Seeks Suggestions For Incoporating Ownership Details In Vehicles Registration Documents

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a notification in order to invite suggestions to amendment in form 20 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (CMVR) for clearly mentioning the ownership type of the vehicles in registration documents.

Why does govt want to revise the registration form?

As per the issued notification by MoRTH, the ownership details are not properly reflected under the various forms of CMVR which are required for registration of the Motor Vehicles. Hence, the notification has proposed to improve Form 20 of the CMVR, 1989 to entertain detailed ownership type such as autonomous body, central government, charitable trust, driving training school, divyangjan, educational institute, local authority, multiple owners, police department, etc.

As per the current scenario, the ownership aspects do not reflect the details of the Divyangjan citizens (physically challenged person). Hence, It becomes tough for such divyangjan owners to avail of various benefits available under Government schemes.  With the proposed amendments, such ownership details would be properly reflected and divyangjan would be able to take advantage of such benefits.
