Toyota is all set to launch its first sub-4m SUV, the Urban Cruiser. It will be the second product from the Toyota-Suzuki partnership. The company has also started its pre-bookings.
The Urban Cruiser will be a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Its teaser images revealed earlier, suggested that its front design would be different from Viatar Brezza. Now, some images of its brochure have been leaked which exposing its design, color options, and some other specifications.
What do the leaked images reveal?
The leaked images giving an unobstructed look of its complete front and interior design.
The Urban Cruiser will get the Fortuner inspired twin slat grille flanked by chrome strips. The fog lamps also get the chrome garnishing on its surroundings. The bumper’s design is also different from the Viatar Brezza. It looks muscular and giving it a more aggressive appearance than the Breeza.
Apart from these changes, all the other elements are identical to its donor SUV, which includes dual-chamber LED headlamps with integrated dual-function LED DRLs (also works as turn indicators), LED fog lamps, and similar deisgned tail lamps with LED inserts.
The side profile, machine-finished alloy wheels, rear windshield, and interior design are also similar to the Vitara Brezza. However, In Urban Cruiser, the cabin gets a dual-tone theme instead of Vitara Brezza’s all-black treatment. It will sport a dark brown upholstery which gives a more premium appeal.
As far as the features are concerned, it will get the same set of equipment as Brezza. The main highlights include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (that will be called Smart PlayCast), android auto and apple carplay connectivity, cruise control, steering mounted controls, auto-dimming IRVM, auto climate control, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, rear wiper & washer, armrests in both rows and adjustable headrests, etc.
Color Options/Paint Schemes
Toyota Urban Cruiser will come in a total of nine exterior paint choices, in which three will be dual-tone color and six monotones (single tone) options.
- Monotone Paint Scheme:- Rustic Brown, Suave Silver, Groovy Orange, Iconic Grey, Spunky Blue, and Sunny White. In comparison to the Vitara Breeza, it gets the new Rustic Brown color instead of Sizzling Red. All the other paint schemes are the same.
- Dual-Tone Paint Scheme:- Rustic Brown with Black roof, Spunky Blue with Black roof, and Groovy Orange with a white roof.
Powertrain
The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be powered by the Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops a max power output of 105PS and a peak torque of 138Nm. Like the Brezza, It will also get the option of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The automatic variants will also get the mild-hybrid technology which is known as SHVS in Maruti cars. It also comprises idle auto start/stop and regenerative braking system.
Better warranty on offer
As expected, Toyota has again played the warranty card in order to attract customers by offering them more peace of mind. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will get a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard while its donor SUV offers a 2 year/40,000km standard warranty.
Expected Price Range & Rivals
Like the Toyota Glanza, the Urban Cruiser is also likely to come in limited but features loaded trims. Hence, we expect its prices to start around Rs 8.5 lakh.
In the sub-4m SUV space, it will compete against the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, and upcoming Nissan Magnite & Kia Sonet.
