Volkswagen has unveiled the exterior design of the upcoming Virtus facelift ahead of its launch in the coming weeks. This will be the first mid-life cycle facelift update for the mid-size sedan, bringing meaningful styling changes and new features.

2026 Volkswagen Virtus Facelift – What’s New?

Going by the teaser, the Virtus facelift will boast a refreshed front fascia, featuring a completely revamped front bumper with diamond-shaped design elements and smaller fog lamps. However, the two-slate chrome grille and projector headlamp setup remain unchanged. Nevertheless, it now gets a new illuminated VW logo and a GT badge. The teaser also confirms the presence of front parking sensors.

From the sides, the silhouette of the sedan remains unchanged; however, it gets newly designed alloy wheels. Keen eyes could also observe camera pods on side mirror housings, suggesting the sedan will get a 360-degree surround-view system.

The rear profile of the 2026 Virtus remains largely the same as the existing model, save for the introduction of a new revised black section on the lower section of the rear bumper and a red GT badge on the boot door.

Other Expectations

While the interior design of the facelifted Virtus is yet to be revealed, it is expected to be similar to that of its sibling, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift. These include a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a new user interface and Google AI assistant support. It is also expected to get an updated climate control system with a revised compressor for improved cooling. Additionally, a rear seat massage function could also be included in the upgraded convenience package.

Volkswagen is also expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1-litre TSI engine (115PS/178Nm), replacing the existing 6-speed unit. It will be offered alongside the existing 6-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TSI engine (150PS/250Nm) will continue to be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Expected Price and Rivals

With the facelift, Volkswagen is likely to increase the prices of the Virtus sedan, which currently ranges between Rs 10.71 lakh and Rs 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted sedan will continue to lock horns with the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and Skoda Slavia.
