Kia India has announced to unveil the facelift version of the Sonet sub-4m SUV on December 14, 2023, with the price announcement likely to occur in early 2024. It will be the first major update for the Kia Sonet since its launch in September 2023.
2024 Kia Sonet Facelift – What To Expect?
Well, the facelifted Kia Sonet has already been spotted undisguised, providing insight into the exterior and interior design changes the upgraded SUV will bring.
- To start with, the facelifted Kia Sonet will undergo notable design changes, especially at the front & rear, in the form of a redesigned LED headlamp cluster with XUV500-like new claw-shaped elements for LED DRLs, new alloys, tweaked bumpers at both ends and Seltos-like connected LED taillamps.
- Inside, changes are expected to be minimal in the form of new upholstery and a revised panel for the climate control system.
- Regarding features, the facelifted Sonett is expected to gain an all-digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree surround view system, and some camera-based ADAS features like the upgraded Hyundai Venue, which comprises Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist For Car, Pedestrian and Cycle, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Lane Following Assist (LFA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA).
- Features like a single-pane electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, auto AC, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, in-built air purifier, six airbags, front & rear parking sensors, ESC, hill hold assist etc., will be retained from the existing model.
- Expect Kia to also introduce new body shades for the updated SUV.

Engine Specifications
We expect the new Sonet to retain all the three existing engine options: 1.2-litre petrol (83PS/115Nm), 1-litre turbo-petrol (120PS/172Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (116PS/250Nm). However, the brand could bring back the manual gearbox options for the diesel and turbo-petrol units.
Price Increment and Rivals
With all these anticipated design and feature changes, the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift is expected to command a significant price premium over its existing version, which currently retails between Rs 7.79 – 14.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
