2022 Honda Civic: Five Things To Know About

Honda has unveiled the prototype version of the 11th generation Civic sedan ahead of its global debut scheduled for the next year. The new Civic has undergone a complete design makeover both inside & outside and gets a host of new features. Here we have mentioned the key five points that you would probably like to know about the all-new 2022 Honda Civic: –

1. New Exterior Design

Unlike the current generation version, the new Civic doesn't carry it's aggressive & sporty design ingredients. Instead of this, it has a cleaner profile like the 10th-gen Honda Accord. It holds a low but wide stance and looks quite appealing & mature without any funky elements. It features a completely new front fascia with a blacked-out thin grille, flanked by sleek LED headlamps. It also gets a redesigned front bumper governed by a large radiator grille and C-shaped black accents for air intake.

On the side, it features a strong character line, running along with its profile and blends beautifully in the LED tail lights setup. It gets 19-inch black finished spoke alloy wheels, shod in 235-section Pirelli Pilot Super Sport tires.

At the back, it gets large blacked-out split tail lights, a sweeping boot ingenious boot lip spoiler, and twin exhaust pipes with gloss black surround. We believe the production version of the new Civic will be quite close to this prototype model.

2. Minimalistic Interior Design

Inside the cabin, the 11th gen Civic features a Honda e EV-like minimalistic dashboard, which is primarily dominated by the free-standing 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. It highlights a honeycomb mesh pattern running along the dash and incorporates the AC vents. The centre console comprises three rotary dials for the climate control system. The steering layout resembles similar to the current-gen Honda City. It also seems like Honda has pulled back the A-pillars to enhance outward visibility.

3. Features

Honda hasn't shared any specific details regarding features but it is likely to get a full-digital instruments display, electronic parking brakes, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, multiple airbags, Honda lane-watch camera, etc. The Japanese maker has also stated that the new Civic will get a bunch of active and passive safety features.

4. Powertrain

As of now, the engine and transmission details have also been kept clandestine for the 11th generation Civic. However, we predict a hybrid powertrain to make its palace under the hood.

5. When it will launch in India?

Well, the new-gen Civic will continue to be offered in both sedan and hatchback styles along with the Si and Type R variants. The brand will first launch the production-spec Civic in the USA by early 2021. Since Honda has brought the 10th generation Civic to India last year only, therefore we don't expect Honda to launch this new-gen model anytime sooner in our market. It won't hit Indian dealerships before 2022.
