In view of the upcoming festive season, Volkswagen has launched more affordable automatic variants of the Polo hatchback and Vento sedan along with new limited-run special editions, called 'Red & White Editions'. Here are the prices: –
Newly Added Trims | Ex-showroom Price | |
Polo | Red And White Edition | Rs 9.19 lakh |
Highline Plus AT | ||
Vento | Red And White Edition | Rs 11.49 lakh |
Highline AT* |
*Offered price for the month. Originally priced at Rs Rs 12.18 lakh.
These Special Editions trims are also based on the newly introduced Polo Highline Plus AT and Vento Highline AT variants.
Until now, the Polo Highline Plus and Vento Highline variants were only available with the 6-speed manual transmission. But these newly added trims have made the automatic model more accessible for the customers. Earlier, the two-pedal ease was only limited to the GT (Rs 9.67 lakh) and Highline Plus (Rs 13.39 lakh) trim of the Polo and Vento respectively.
Volkswagen Polo And Vento Red & White Special Editions
As the above table suggests, both the Special Editions are priced similar or less to the variants on which they are based. And, so at no extra premium, they offer a bunch of cosmetic enhancements and the convenience of an automatic gearbox.
The Polo Red & White Editions are offered in three dual-tone color options: Flash Red with White, Sunset Red with Black, and Candy White with Black. On the other hand, the Vento Special Edition can be had in two shades: Sunset Red with Black and Candy White with Black. This is the first time when Polo is offered with a white-colored roof, ORVM, and spoiler.
Apart from the new paint schemes, both trims also get body decals on the doors and ‘Red and White’ badging on the front fenders.
Features
Except for the cosmetic additions, both special editions are identical to their donor trims, hence, they share the same features list that mainly includes alloy wheels, automatic AC, rear AC vents, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, dual-airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors and many more.
Powertrain
Both the Polo and Vento Special Editions are powered by the 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine, generating a grunt of 110PS/175Nm. As mentioned above, both the Red & White Editions can only be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Competitors
In the premium hatchback segment, the VW Polo automatic competes against the likes of Toyota Glanza, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Honda Jazz. On the other side, its sedan version locks horns with the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and Toyota Yaris.
