On December 23, TVS Motor Company launched the Apache RTR 165 RP, its first performance bike under its newly formed Race Performance (RP) sub-brand, which is now completely sold out. It was priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and was limited to just 200 units.
The new RTR 165 RP features an Apache 160's rebored engine with a new cylinder head (35 percent increase in intake), a twin electrode spark plug, 15 percent bigger valves with high-lift cams, and dual spring actuators, etc. This highly modified 164.9cc, single-cylinder, engine puts out 19.2PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 8,750rpm. There's also the race-tuned slipper clutch, offered with a 5-speed transmission.
Features-wise the bike gets a bi-LED headlamp, red alloy wheels, dual-tone seat, adjustable brake & clutch levers, 240mm rear petal disc brake, brass-coated drive chain & sprocket, and new Racing decals with customized stickers.
While its direct competitors are the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ-Fi, and Hero Xtreme 160R, it has also managed to annihilate the Yamaha MT-15 that retails from Rs 1.47 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
