Maruti Suzuki has dominated the Indian passenger vehicle segment for decades. However, for the first time, only three Maruti cars have made it to the top 10 list of monthly sales. And, what's even more interesting is that there is a non-Maruti car at the top of the list. Yes, the Hyundai Creta has created history by becoming India's most-selling car in May 2021. However, the overall sales of the passenger vehicle segment remain comparatively lower in May as compared to the previous months owing to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. So, here are the top 10 cars that registered the highest sales in the month of May 2021:-

After being the country's favourite SUV for a long time, the Creta has now also emerged as the country's No. 1 car as per the sales figures of May 2021. Compared to the last month's sales, Creta has surpassed the Maruti WagonR, Swift, Alto, Baleno, and Dzire to achieve this position. However, we are still surprised that Maruti's all-time best-sellers Alto, WagonR, and Vitara Brezza did not make it to the list.

The second spot is taken by the Maruti Suzuki Swift. It saw a huge drop from 18,316 units sold in April 2021 to 7,005 units sold last month.
The Kia Seltos overtakes the Nexon and Venue and becomes the best-selling sub-4-meter SUV of the month. It clinched the third position for May 2021.
Tata's Nexon SUV comes at the fourth position, followed by the Maruti Dzire. Interestingly, Nexon has witnessed the least decline in the month-on-month sales figures.

Hyundai Venue secured the sixth position, recording 4,840 units sold in May 2021 against the 16,384 units in April month. That's a huge drop of 57% in monthly sales figures.
Maruti's premium hatchback Baleno comes at the seventh position, recording the highest decline of almost 71% from 16,384 units sold in April month.
Kia Seltos obtained the eighth position in the list, followed by its cousin hatchback. However, both these Korean vehicles have reported a huge MoM decline of 47.1% and 67%, respectively.
The last position is taken up by Mahindra Bolero. It had recorded sales of around 3,500 units last month.
