The French automaker Renault has unveiled its new brand logo at its Renaulution event. The new logo was presented on the Renault 5 electric concept car. Compared to the earlier shiny silver logo, the new logo is flat monochrome emblem; however, it continues to use the diamond shape that Renault first adopted in 1925. The new logo exhibits Renault’s futuristic electric approach as the brand is planning to shift its focus to electric cars in the future.
The new Renault logo comprises two intertwined lines that evoke the four-line version of the 1972 design logo, which the brand has used for 20 years. In 1992, Renault had revealed the current version of the logo, which has been revised four times till now. Hence, the new logo is the 9th iteration to use the diamond-shape.
The Renault group is planning to shift gradually to the new emblem across all channels including print, social, and on the actual cars. Renault's products will start carrying the new emblem from 2022, and by 2024, the company's entire line-up will feature it.
Commenting on the occasion, Gilles Vidal, the design director at Renault, said –
“The Renault 5 was for us a formidable testing ground. In view of the enthusiasm and the very positive feedback we received about the logo, we decided to launch it. The logo will be gradually introduced across the range as models are refreshed or replaced. It will be featured on every Renault model by 2024.”
