Ola Electric S1 Vs Simple One Vs Ather 450X : Price, Features And Specifications Comparison

Bengaluru-based Simple Energy has recently launched its first EV called the Simple One at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). It not only comes at an attractive price tag but also offers a lot of features, great performance, and a best-in-class range. Ola Electric has also entered the electric two-wheeler space with the S1 scooter, claiming a promising riding range. So here we have compared the specifications and pricing of these newly launched e-scooters with the country's most trusted Ather 450X premium scooter.

  • Starting with the Simple One, it comes with the highest battery capacity of 4.8kWh that is claimed to offer a real-world range of around 203 kilometers in Eco mode. Also, its battery pack is a detachable unit that enables the users to take it out to charge separately. This will be beneficial for the customers who live in multi-storage appointments.

  • Ola Scooter comes with two battery packs – 2.98kWh and 3.97kWh, which are claimed to offer a range of 121km and 181km, respectively. However, these are likely to be the ARAI-certified numbers, which are obtained in ideal conditions and differ from the real-world range.

  • Having almost half the battery Capacity that of Simple One, the Ather 450X offers the least range.

  • As far as the acceleration is concerned, the Simple One again gets an edge over its rivals thanks to its torquiest motor in the segment and light curb weight.

Author's Take

Both the Simple One and Ola Electric Scooter offer better performance and range despite being cheaper than the Ather 450X. Moreover, Ola has an advantage in terms of availability. That being said, Ola will adopt a direct-to-customer sales model and the deliveries of the Ola S1 will commence in over 1,000 cities from October 2021. On the other hand, the Simple One will adopt the traditional dealership model and will be available in select cities across 13 states in the initial phase. Ather Energy is also expanding its reach rapidly across the nation.

Apart from this, all three companies are working to develop charging infrastructure for their customers. But Ola Electric has a very broad vision. Ola has previously announced to set up the world's largest electric 2-wheelers charging network called 'Ola Hypercharger Network', which is aimed to have 1 lakh charging stations across 400 cities of the country. However, the initial phase will include around 5,000 charging points/stations across 100 cities within the first year.
