Nissan India has launched the Magnite sub-4m SUV at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is available in four trim (four variants: XE, XL, XV, XV Premium), and two petrol engine (1.0L NA & 1.0L turbo) choices. Which variant should you buy?

• The base XE-variant is quite loaded and offers all the basics that one requires. However, it doesn't get any factory-fitted entertainment system. But you can get it from the aftermarket. If you are on a tight budget and want a decently loaded model, the XE variant is ideal for you. For all others, we suggest you skip this variant. It is also important to note that the base trim is only available with the naturally aspirated engine, and that may feel underpowered, especially in full-load conditions.
• The XL variant commands a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the XE variant and the price hike is not fully justified as most features are only available with the turbocharged model. Hence, If you are looking for a performance-oriented variant and can't expand your budget, then this is the right choice for you. And if you want an automatic Magnite, this will be the base version.

• According to us, the Magnite XV is the most value-for-money variant with some segment-first inclusions on offer. It comes with almost all the whistles & bells, and that’s why it is our recommendation to you.
