New Tata Tigor EV Could Offer A Range Of Around 345km On A Full Charge

The 2021 Tata Tigor EV is all set to hit the Indian roads on August 31. Bookings for the updated electric sedan are already underway for a token amount of Rs 21,000. It will be the second model in Tata's electric vehicles lineup to use their Ziptron EV technology after India's best-selling electric car, the Nexon EV. Recently, the upcoming Tata EV has been spotted at dealership yards, revealing a few interesting details about its driving range.

While Tata has previously confirmed that the new Tigor EV will get a 26kWh battery pack and a 75PS/170Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor, the latest spy shots of the facelifted Tigor EV have suggested that it could offer a driving range of around 345km on full charge (as the MID showing a range of 204km remaining at 59 percent battery level). That’s 120km more than the range of the recently launched XPres-T (facelifted Tigor EV for fleet customers).

However, it is important to note that its range in real-life conditions will differ based on the temperature and driving behaviour. Also, if we take the Nexon EV into account, which uses a larger battery pack (30.2kWh) and has an ARAI-claimed range of 312km, it would be safe to assume that the Tigor EV could offer a claimed range of around 300 kilometers.

Besides, we already know that the brand will provide an 8-year / 1,60,000 kilometers of warranty (whichever occurs earlier) on its battery and motor. While its top speed is still under the wraps, it is claimed to sprint from 0 to 60 kmph in mere 5.7 seconds.

We expect Tata to price the new Tigor EV from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. While it doesn't have any real competitors in the Indian market, it will lock horns with the upcoming Mahindra eKUV100
