New Maruti Alto K10: Which Variant Should You Buy?

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has recently been launched in India, with prices ranging from Rs 3.99 lakh to Rs 5.83 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to its previous-gen model which was discontinued in 2020, the new Alto K10 has become more mature. But there are still some areas which remain untouched. Nevertheless, if you are in the market for the Alto K10 and confused about which variant to pick. We are here to help you.

Compared to the old-gen Alto K10, the new-gen Alto K10 is 15mm smaller; however, its wheelbase and height have grown by 20mm and 50mm, respectively. Also, it has become lighter, thanks to the new Heartact platform and the use of high-strength steel.

The heart of the new Maruti Alto K10 is the 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder, DualJet engine that also powers the S-Presso, Celerio, and lower variants of WagonR. However, compared to its elder siblings, it misses out on the idle start/stop function, and so it is slightly less fuel-efficient than the Celerio, which is claimed to return a mileage of up to 26.68kmpl from its VXi AGS variant. It will soon receive a factory-fitted CNG kit option as well.

Color Options

Maruti offers the new Alto K10 in six color options: Pearl White, Metallic Speedy Blue, Pearl Metallic Earth Gold, Metallic Sizzling Red, Metallic Silky Silver, and Metallic Granite Grey.

Alto K10 – Variants Explanation

1. Alto K10 STD

PriceRs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

Key Features: –

  • Exterior: – Halogen headlamps, steel wheels with hub caps, unpainted door handles, side mirrors, and bumpers.
  • Interior: – Monotone black-colored cabin theme, sunvisor (dr + co. dr), cabin lamp, digital speedometer, and 1L bottle holders in front doors with map pockets
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Remote boot & fuel lid opener, manual windows.
  • Safety: – Dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminders, pre-tensioner & force limiter, rear door child lock, high-speed alert system, and rear parking sensors.

Verdict: – This is just one variant that offers appealing entry-level pricing, nothing more. We recommend you avoid this bare-bone variant of the Alto K10 as it doesn’t even have the simplest features like power steering, air conditioning system, front power socket, etc.

2. Alto K10 LXI

PriceRs 4.82 lakh (ex-showroom)
Premium Over STD VariantRs 83,000

Key Features (in addition to STD variant): –

  • Exterior: – Body-colored front & rear bumpers.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – AC with heater and power steering.

Verdict: The LXI variant receives a handful of convenience features over the STD trim, but that’s not sufficient. We suggest you to extend your budget and skip to the VXI trim.

3. Alto K10 VXI

PriceManual: Rs 4.99 lakh, AMT: Rs 5.49 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom)
Premium Over LXI VariantRs 17,000

Key Features (in addition to LXI variant): –

  • Exterior: – Wheel covers, roof antenna, and body-colored door handles.
  • Interior: – MID with distance-to-empty, average fuel consumption reading, gear position indicator, key off/headlamp on reminder.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Internally adjustable wing mirrors, front power sockets, and front power windows (positioned below the music system).
  • Infotainment: – Audio system with FM/radio, Bluetooth, AUX & USB connectivity, and 2 speakers.
  • Safety: – Speed sensing auto-door lock, impact sensing door unlock, Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) rear seat belts, and central locking.

Verdict: – Those in the market for Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 should consider the VXI as the true-base variant as it covers majorly as basic features except for the day/night IRVM, which we recommend you to get from the aftermarket.

4. Alto K10 VXI+

PriceManual: Rs 5.33 lakh, AMT: Rs 5.83 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom)
Premium Over VXI VariantRs 34,000

Key Features (in addition to VXI variant): –

new Maruti Alto K10 interior
  • Interior: – Silver color highlights on the center console, steering wheel, door trims, and side louvers for contrast appeal.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Rear parcel tray, remote keyless entry, and steering mounted audio & telephony controls.
  • Infotainment: – A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and 2 additional speakers (total 4 speakers).

Verdict: – Thanks to the cosmetic touch-ups and better in-cabin features, the range-topping VXI+ variant looks slightly upmarket. But still, it lacks many essential features like rear power windows, an anti-glare function for the internal rear-view mirror (IRVM), and storage space for rear occupants. It is more disappointing that there’s no significant feature difference between the top-spec variants of Alto and Alto K10.
