Powertrain
Mechanically, the Kia Sonet X-Line can be had with either a 120PS/172Nm 1.0-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol or a 115PS/250Nm 1.5-liter CRDi VGT diesel engine, paired with an automatic transmission only. That said, the petrol mill comes mated to a 7-speed DCT, whereas the oil-burner gets a 6-speed torque converter AT.
Author’s Take
The addition of the Kia Sonet X-Line variant makes it the right candidate against the Tata Nexon Dark Edition. However, tuning the driving dynamics would have made it a perfect alternative to the upcoming Hyundai Venue N-Line as well.
