There’s nothing new that MG Motor India is preparing to launch the facelifted ZE EV in the upcoming days. While the brand is yet to share any details about the upgraded SUV, the undisguised spy shots of the car have now surfaced on the web, revealing its design and features details.
2022 MG ZS EV Facelift – Exterior
This is the first time we’re catching the body-colored panel faux grille of the new ZS EV, which also incorporates the charging port. We can also clearly see the redesigned projector headlamp with LED DRLs (identical to the MG Astor) and aggressively styled new front bumper, housing radar sensor (for ADAS) between the mock air dam.
The side and rear profiles of the car also look similar to its ICE counterpart, except for the new alloy wheels, slightly tweaked rear bumper, and ”ELECTRIC” badging on the front fender. One can also spot cameras under the ORVMs and on the front windshield.
2022 MG ZS EV Facelift – Interior and Features
The interior of the new ZS EV is again on the lines of the Astor, featuring soft-touch material on the dash, along with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (probably with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto) taking the centre stage. There’s also the upgraded climate control panel, a digital driver’s display, and red-color stitching on the flat-bottom steering wheel. However, it remains to be seen whether it gets Astor’s personal AI assistant robot head.
As revealed earlier, the new ZS EV will also get a 360-degree camera and LEVEL-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that should comprise active safety features like emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, etc.
New Battery Pack
The most important update on the new ZS EV will come in the form of a bigger 51kWh battery pack, which will certainly improve its drive range from the current claimed figure of 419 km. Similar to its global-spec version, the India-bound EV is also expected to support DC fast charging of up to 100kW, filling up its battery in just 42 minutes.
Expected Price
Expect the new MG ZS EV to command a significant premium over the current model, which retails from Rs 21.49 lakh to Rs 25.18 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Once launched, it will rekindle its rivalry with Hyundai Kona Electric.
