Let’s quickly delve into all the necessary details of the 2026 Yamaha RZF R2 supersport motorcycle: –

Yamaha YZF R2: Engine and Performance

  • Powered by an all-new 204cc, 4-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine that makes the segment-leading 26.5PS of max power at 10,000 rpm and 19.1Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.
  • The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist-&-slipper clutch and quickshifter, allowing riders to change gears without using the clutch or closing the throttle, making gear changing much faster and smoother.
  • What’s more interesting is that its valves are coated with diamond-like carbon coating, a feature seen on the erstwhile flagship YZF-R1.

Yamaha YZF R2: Underpinnings

  • Based on the lightweight steel-tubed diamond frame (backbone frame), the new Yamaha R2 weighs just 149kg (150kg Y2 M), making it the lightest motorcycle of its segment.
  • It has a seat height of 810mm, a ground clearance of 170mm, a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres, and a wheelbase of 1340mm.
  • Underpinnings comprise 37mm USD forks up front (adjustable in the R2 M variant) and a linked-type monocross suspension at the rear.
  • For braking, the bike gets disc brakes at both ends, with a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS) as standard.

  • Key design bits include an LED headlamp, LED position lamps, a large windshield, clip-on handlebars for precise control, a sportier split seat arrangement, adjustable footpegs, and spoked alloy wheels.
  • Other features include ride-by-wire throttle, a 5-inch TFT dash, traction control, assist & slipper clutch, a bi-directional quickshifter, and three riding modes. Furthermore, the range-topping R2 M variant also benefits from adjustable brake & clutch levers, adjustable front forks, faux-suede seats, and a smart keyless system.
