To make the most of the festive season, Volkswagen India is set to launch the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition tomorrow, ie., on November 2, 2023. But ahead of its arrival, details about this special edition variant have emerged online.

  • Inside, it will get black leather seats with red stitching and a “TRAIL” emblem. It will also get red ambient lighting and aluminium pedals for a sporty appeal.

  • Regarding features, it is likely to retain all the equipment from the standard model.
  • Since the Trail Edition will be based on the Volkswagen Taigun’s top-sped GT Plus trim, it is expected to be powered solely by the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, capable of producing 150PS of max power and 250Nm of peak torque.
  • Transmission choices should include both 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission units.
  • Expect the upcoming Trail Edition variant to command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the regular GT Plus variant, which currently ranges between Rs 17.80 lakh and Rs 19.56 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • In the mid-size SUV segment, the Volkswagen Taigun faces competition from the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
